Clear Lake

I would like to stay beside this lake sometime, and not just drive past it.

Clear Lake --
where the water does not form threatening waves,
where fish lurk calmly
where the lake bottom sinks downward
at exactly the rate that the sediment deposits
so that the lake never dries up.

Clear Lake in California is located on a geological fluke...  the massive, tilted slab which is the lake bottom tilts downward at exactly the rate that the sediment deposits into the lake.  So the water level stays approximately the same, and the lake never becomes shallow and dries up, which is the fate of many lakes.  Clear Lake is thus a very old lake.
